I have for some years always had painful feet but I never had anything done about it. I never went to a podiatrist I just felt like it was something I just had to deal with. It came to a point where I could not ignore the pain anymore so I went to a podiatrist and was told I have Plantar fasciitis it’s pain and inflammation of the plantar fascia, the tissue at the bottom of your foot that connects the heel bone to the toes.
I have never heard of this but it does explain the pain. The pain in my feet was so bad it would have me in tears and I had problems putting weight on my feet. The pain would wake me up at night and when I would get out of bed the pain would be there and would continue through out the day. I would limp to try to relieve the pain. My hubby would always ask what he could do for me and I knew he hated to see me cry but now we know.
My job requires me to be on my feet for long periods of time but now that I know what I have I will talk to management and see if they will accommodate me. My doctor has given me meds to alleviate the pain and I am going to have an x-ray. I’ve got to get orthopedic shoes and inserts and a night splint to wear at night. The pain is in both feet but my right foot is more painful. So my doctor has said that he is trying pills first then if that doesn’t work then I will have to have shots and if that still doesn’t work then surgery.
If you have never had this type of pain you are blessed. This type of pain effects everything you do it’s like you dread having to walk. I have started to do exercises for my feet and my doctor does want me to minimize the pressure on my feet so I am looking into getting a cane to assist me for awhile. I really don’t want to get a cane but for right now until I can manage the pain I gotta get one.
